a quick trip to NYC

After spending the past 5 days in NYC, it's good to be home!!  I'm so glad we were able to schedule this trip before Kristin & Andrew move out of the city.  It was so great to see them before baby arrives as well!  Hard to believe that in just a few months we're going to be an aunt and uncle!!

Highlights from our trip include:

- Caleb's first airplane ride!  He LOVED watching the airplanes!  Thankfully we didn't have long layovers!

- Running into Tina Fey on the streets of Brooklyn.
- Riding the ferry to Manhattan to visit to the American Museum of Natural History.

- Picnicking in Central Park with our dear friend Chad and family!

- Checking out every park in sight!  Daddy taught Caleb how to climb up slides and we had to check out each and every slide at all the parks!

- Enjoying amazing soup dumplings and bubble tea in Chinatown.

- Caleb slept through his first subway ride!

- Eating copious amounts of delicious food thanks Kristin and Andrew's cooking skills!

Thank you for such an amazing visit, Kristin & Andrew! Wish we lived closer!!

It seems like we've been going non-stop since Christmas.  And what's really crazy is it feels like we have nothing to show for it!  Once the hustle and bustle of the holidays settled down, it seemed like work picked up and we had a lot more fun things planned with friends.  We definitely don't want to miss out on quality hang out time with our friends, now that thanks to Dan's new and improved schedule we can both usually attend.

While I'm working on taking care of our little one {ie. sleeping and eating!}, Dan's been hard at work prepping the upstairs for an overhaul.  We're hoping to install a bathroom and get that room livable before baby arrives.  Right now we're still in the planning and demo stage.  Hopefully soon we'll make some actual progress that I can share!

Though the weather is frigid outside {a balmy 20degrees today!}  Maggie and I found warmth in the living room where the sun graciously filled the room.  I decided it was a great day to finally update this thing!  I realized that I hadn't posted anything about the house and our renovations in MONTHS! Yikes...a lot has happened since that post back in August!  Because I use this blog to chronicle our life, I went ahead and back-dated these posts so that they fall when the actual event occurred.  Here are links to the most recent updates.

NYC {Eagle Street Rooftop Farm}

A must-see in Brooklyn is the Eagle Street Rooftop Farm.  Thankfully, the weekend we were visiting they had open hours to visit the farm AND the weather was gorgeous!  We spent Sunday afternoon walking the streets of Brooklyn and visiting this beauty, check it out...

NYC {knitting class}

While we were in NYC I had the opportunity to go with Kristin the knitting class that she teaches at the Eileen Fisher Lab Store.  This class is a drop in class where students bring a project they're working on to get assistance and support.  Because there were only 2 students this particular Saturday, she was able to set up and share how a recently purchased knitting machine works.  This machine, purchased by Eileen Fisher Lab Store specifically for this group, is similar to the one that Kristin has at home so she showed us how to set it up and all the fantastic things you can do with it.

I didn't have a knitting project with me, so while she was helping the other ladies, I wondered the store swooning over all the wonderful textiles.
